Education and Experience

  • Honours Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Specialization in Medical Sciences, Lakehead University
  • Master of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology, Western University
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery, University of Toronto

Dr. Desimone’s passion for healthcare has always been strong, but dentistry stood out due to its significant connection to overall wellness. During her graduate studies in speech-language pathology, Dr. Desimone encountered research that shifted her perspective: studies showing how untreated dental decay and poor oral hygiene can increase the risk of aspiration pneumonia in certain populations. This insight sparked her enduring interest in the relationship between oral health and systemic disease and inspired her to pursue a career where she could help prevent broader health issues through quality dental care.

During dental school, Dr. Desimone was actively involved in community outreach. As Vice President of the Community Global and Oral Health Club, she collaborated with fellow students and local health organizations to promote oral health in underserved communities. These experiences solidified her commitment to equitable healthcare and strengthened her goal of becoming a skilled and compassionate dentist who advocates for those facing barriers to care.

A member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Dr. Desimone is committed to lifelong learning and regularly engages in continuing education to stay current with the latest advancements in techniques, materials, and technology. This dedication ensures her patients receive high-quality and effective comprehensive care.
